Rail Labor Unions Ask House Members To Vote Against Transportation Appropriations (THUD) Bill

October 31, 2023 – Today, ATDA and the other fraternal organizations of the AFL-CIO’s Transportation Trades Department – Rail Labor Division (TTD-RLD), as well as the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, jointly called upon members of the U.S. House of Representatives to vote in opposition to the proposed Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (THUD) fiscal year 2024 spending bill.  In a letter to representatives, TTD-RLD noted that, “The bill’s proposed $1 billion decrease in Amtrak funding would devastate existing operations and jeopardize more the 10,000 jobs.” The reduction in Amtrak funding would represent a 64% reduction in funding from fiscal year 2023, reducing funding to pre-2003 funding levels.

TTD-RLD’s full letter can be found here.  Please join with ATDA and the rest of rail labor by contacting your representative and demanding that they oppose this decimating proposal. Find your representative here.
