Vice President

Barry serves as ATDA Vice President and is based in the Wilmington, Delaware area. He began his railroad career when he was hired as an Amtrak Substation Electrician in 1990. He later became an ATDA member in 1995, when he was promoted to the position of Amtrak Power Director. Shortly after, he became an ATDA Local Chairman, then served multiple terms after being elected to the position of Vice General Chairman.

In 2012 Barry was elected as General Chairman of the Amtrak System Committee, a position in which he went on to serve for five consecutive terms. During that time, he was twice (in 2015 and 2019) elected to serve as an ATDA Trustee and served as an interim Vice President in 2018. In October 2023, Barry was elected to his current position of ATDA Vice President.

As Vice President, Barry provides support to local System Committee leadership in contract negotiations and dispute resolution. He also provides advocacy on Legislative issues that impact Amtrak and serves as ATDA’s representative to the Federal Railroad Administration’s (FRA) Rail Safey Advisory Committee (RSAC) Critical Incident Stress Plan Committee.
