DM&E Train Dispatchers Vote to Unionize With ATDA
Kansas City, Missouri – On July 23, 2025, the National Mediation Board (NMB) announced that Train Dispatchers from the Dakota, Minnesota, & Eastern Railroad (DM&E) have voted unanimously to unionize with the American Train Dispatchers Association (ATDA). With the DM&E being a subsidiary of the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railroad (CPKC), the successful organization means that every Train Dispatcher working in CPKC’s Kansas City, Missouri Operations Center is now represented by ATDA.
Commenting on the successful vote, ATDA President Ed Dowell said the following, “This moment has been long overdue, and now together, we begin the important work of securing a Collective Bargaining Agreement that fairly addresses quality of life issues and other issues that matter most to our DM&E members.
