ATDA files for mediation on behalf of Power Supervisors and Train Dispatchers employed by New Jersey Transit

April 02, 2026

Cleveland, Ohio — On April 1, 2026, the American Train Dispatchers Association (ATDA) filed separate requests for mediation with the National Mediation Board (NMB) for both their Power Supervisors and Train Dispatchers, as the next step in resolving its ongoing major dispute with New Jersey Transit Rail Operations, Inc. (NJT). ATDA has bargained on behalf of its NJT Power Supervisor and Train Dispatcher members for more than 18 months, seeking fair rates of pay, rules, and working conditions through terms mandated by the Railway Labor Act.

NJT has thus far refused to provide a fair offer, but ATDA remains committed to reaching a voluntary agreement that recognizes the vital role its Power Supervisors and Train Dispatchers play in the safe and efficient operation of NJT’s rail system.
