ATDA President Ed Dowell and other labor leaders attended a Christmas reception at the White House on 12/20/23, at the invitation of President Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. The event featured a clear message of support from President Biden, who reminded all in attendance that “the middle class was built by labor and without labor there would be no middle class.” Reflecting on the invitation, ATDA President Dowell said, “It’s an honor to represent our members and attend this special holiday event. This gathering of labor leaders from nearly all the trade union leaders provided a rare opportunity to share thoughts, express concerns, build relationships, and strengthen our solidarity. This is another example of the access that President Biden has provided to labor.”
